This is undoubtedly the best adaptation of Jane Austen’s immortal novel of the same name, as confirmed by several generations of viewers. I have watched this show many times already, and it was filmed with an immeasurably more love for the characters and more respect for the book and the author than the film with Keira Knightley. It is to this series that Colin Firth owes his world fame, because he is the best fit for the role of Mr. Darcy, and even in “Bridget Jones’s Diary” he continued to play his role. In the series, a lot of attention is paid to details, almost all the characters are fully revealed in it, Mr. Collins alone is worth something! It should be noted here that the selection of the actors was carried out very successfully: each is in his place and nothing stands out from the general outline. I also think that the format is a mini-series as a good choice: it is impossible to fit everything into a film, and it makes no sense to stretch it, so a mini-series is what you need. All in all, this is the BBC’s most successful series based on a classic English novel and is undoubtedly the best adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. I think Jane Austen would be happy.
